Have a look on these mesmerizing, amazing, charismatic, and beautiful floral portraits that are captured by photographer and artist Ceres Henry, aka Diaja.
The artist Ceres starts the process by accurately painting the bodies of her models with flower embellishments, prior to shooting. Continually ambitious by the arts, Ceres (Diaja) pursued her passion at the Fashion Institute of Technology. She started her studies to prepare for the fashion Industry. Ceres had the same love for photography along with fashion, so she took a course to brush her natural skills up and educate herself on various photographic techniques.
“Each muse featured is painted on completely, adorned with flowers, and then photographed. The significance of this series is to highlight the Black and African diaspora as works of art to be admired, and celebrated. Not feared, abused and looked down upon. This series counters the negative narratives and stereotypes perpetrated against them in media.” She Diaja.
Her parents support her, encourage her and help her out to made her dream reality by co-founding Diaja, a line featuring quality handbags, and fine apparel. Her parents are also entrepreneurs. Ceres went on to produce many collections which opened doors for her designs to be performed with L’oreal Paris, Pynk Magazine, Lucky Magazine, and others.
Ceres’ photography is well-known for storytelling through photographic series. These series are often motivated by present events, Black and African culture, and social disparities. As an artist, her goal is to influence others, give back to her community, and give a voice and being there to those overlooked, and disregarded.
