A Collection of Useful, Free Icon Sets

As a developer, it can often take a lot of time and effort to create a user interface that works well, and that’s easy to use and easy to understand intuitively. A big part of that issue is in having icons that are easy to decipher without thinking – but the design also needs to be up to scratch and look the part.

In the past, I’ve created icons for the sole purpose of using them within a web app – but this can be extraordinarily time consuming and fiddly. Fortunately, you can speed up your development time enormously by making use of a well-crafted icon set. Many designers have created beautiful icon sets and have generously given them away for free, and I wanted to bring together a useful collection of some of my favourites. Each one of these icon sets represents hours and days of hard work and care, and the results are beautiful, well-crafted and useful icons for your next project. Be sure to check the license agreement, especially if you’re planning on using them for a commercial app, and if you know of any other icon sets that deserve a mention, I’d love to hear about them in the comments section.
