I tend to spend quite a bit of my time creating web apps, and often a huge portion of that time is spent designing the interface. As most designers know, the interface is crucial – even the most useful apps and websites will end up unused and unloved if the UI is clunky and hard to use. The opposite is also true – a beautiful, elegant and well designed interface is much more likely to result in happier users and an app that actually sees use.
But the downside, of course, is that creating a beautiful UI from scratch requires a huge amount of patience, time and effort – not to mention years of experience. Fortunately, there are a number of beautiful UI kits that you can use – templates that have pre-designed buttons, switches, toggles, form fields and more, all of them following a cohesive pattern and that look good together, rather than stitching together a hotchpotch of unusual interface elements. Making use of a UI kit is perfect for getting a prototype of your app up and running, and even for the first version of your app or site. They can speed up your development time significantly and they can look great while they do it.
I’ve brought together a collection of free, beautifully crafted and stylish UI kits that you might find useful. At the time of writing, all of these templates are available free of charge, but please do check the license agreement as there may be restrictions around where and how you can use them. As always, if you know of any UI kits that weren’t featured in this roundup, I’d love to hear about them in the comments below.
I hope you’ve found some of these UI templates useful, and as always if you know of any others, I’d love to hear about them in the comments below.
