Photoshop allows designers and photographers to enhance the look of photos in more ways than one. Some photos are edited in a very subtle way that the viewer would not even know that it’s edited, unless and until it is kept side by side with the original photo. While some are so drastic yet appealing, that the viewer wouldn’t mind the Photoshop technique used on it. There is a way to enhance, delete, add, morph, tweak, create illusion, or do almost anything with a picture, in Photoshop. It’s the bible for visualisers, graphic designers and now photographers too. Sometimes what they see, is not captured in the best of cameras. After all, the depth, distance and perspective of what the human eye see, is not really easy to capture it exactly the same way in a camera. Here, Photoshop comes in handy.

Additionally, the imagination of a person can also be tweaked into the picture, which is a good news for many creative guns. Post-Processing or photo editing as they say is what makes a good photo great or a great picture awe-inspiring, marvellous or even par excellence. A little edit can take a photographer’s convey a photographer’s desired message very easily and effectively. This does not imply that a photographer’s vision is less important or of no value at all. This simply implies that photo editing is as important as a photo shoot. The photo shoot and production is never considered finished until the editing and post production is completed. A photographer’s vision could go out of the window if the images are not edited or edited poorly. A good editing job can make one single picture win the best captured image of the year. In an otherwise situation, it can just go unnoticed and just acquire some space in the archives. Moods expressed and actions captured should come out of the picture and as they say, should speak a thousand words for itself. More importantly, the right words. Hence, photo editing is an extension of the emotions being portrayed or captured. Cameras produce a good starting point, but post-processing is the stage where magic is created. If you are a person who creates this magic, then this collection of Photoshop tricks will definitely help you spellbound the viewer more effectively and easily.

1. High Contrast Color

The super-high-contrast and a desaturated look in pictures is incredibly popular right now. Just by boosting the contrast in a color photograph can produce some great results for you. Shoot up the contrast, play with the tones and colors, and use a “grunge” mood for your photos.

2. High Contrast B&W

Monochrome is the latest in trend and it doesn’t look like it will go away so soon. Depth of a picture is brilliantly conveyed through a black and white picture. You can experiment with a good high-contrast black & white picture which will display stunning results. This attracts the viewers attention to the shapes, lines, and patterns rather than the tones. Make sure you know when to use it so that you don’t go overboard.

3. High Color Saturation

A great way to make your picture stand out is to increase the color saturation. Just be careful of color clipping and banding if it’s increased too much.

4. Vintage Look

The title is pretty much self explanatory. To get a vintage look, you can play with color saturation, color tinting and adding few imperfections here and there. They create the mood and character of the picture.

5. Lomo Look

Lomo pictures have a very unique and distinct look. They tend to be saturated a lot and that’s the area you would want to play around to get the look. Oversaturated colors, distortions, unexpected prismatic effects are some tricks to get this look. It usually looks best on close up pictures and in pictures where you have objects too. Sharp centers and blurry edges make it look beautiful.

6. Oversharpen

To give your image a more strong appeal and feel, you can sometimes use oversharpening. Most pictures often require this, but only sometimes oversharpening an image adds more value to it.

7. Texturize

If you have flat and bland proportions of a picture, then by introducing detailing and complexity can deal with it. Overlay texture to bring in subtle elements to your image.

8. Add Vignette

Vignettes are really a smart way to make something stand out in a picture. It does it subtly by creating a natural frame around the image and automatically draws the attention towards the center of the photo.

9. Add Noise & Grain

This is rather a fun way to experiment. To spice up your bland parts of the picture, add noise or grain. Use it moderately though. This is also used for many comics or memes, some of which you can check out on www.memes.com

10. Vibrance

If you wish to remove the sunburned skin then you can increase vibrance more than saturation. Usually  vibrance works with cooler tones like blues and greens. On the other hand, saturation is more effective with warmer tones like reds and yellows. So keep vibrance two or three times more than saturation.
